Sanmitra Mahila Nagri Sahkari Bank Chandrapur

I feel honoured and humbled to be bestowed with the demanding task of working as the President of Sanmitra Mahila Nagri Sahkari Bank Maryadit, Chandrapur. This is the first 'Mahila Bank' in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli District which came into existence on 18th March, 1999 and was inaugurated by Hon'ble Shrimati Vidya Tai Kelkar, President of Yavatmal Mahila Sahkari Bank. The occasion was graced by the presence of Hon'ble MLA Shri Sudhir Bhau Mungantiwar, Hon'ble MLA Shrimati Shobha Tai Fadnavis, District Collector Hon'ble Shri Bhonge (IAS), Dr. G. W. Andankar, Founder and President of the Sanmitra Mandal Chandrapur. Dr. Kiran Tai Andankar, Vice-President Shrimati Manjiri Tai Kondawar and Directors of governing body of the Bank.
I feel proud to mention that few well educated, well read and career-oriented women came together to visualize, conceptualize and work hard to bring this bank into existence. It is not a common bank as it is of the women, for the women and by the women. The governing body of the bank is known as Pragati Panel which saw it's first election of members on 31st March 2009. This resulted in the election of Kiran Tai Andankar and Jaya Tai Dwadeshiwar as the President and Vice-President of the Bank respectively. They ensured the cooperation of the members of the panel and led the activities of the panel to help run and develop the bank to achieve its purpose with distinction. Unfortunately, the panel suffered from the untimely demise of Kiran Tai Andankar while she was still The President. Her responsibilities were taken over by the very able Jaya Tai Dwadeshiwar who chose to put her trust in my humble self to carry out the responsibilities of the Vice-President of the Panel. But soon after, we all came to discover that our beloved Jaya Tai Dwivediwar was fighting cancer and hence found it difficult to completely commit to the role of the President. Before leaving, she nominated me to the Panel as her successor and I am honoured that the Panel agreed with her assessment and made me the President on 30th January, 2017.
This bank had humble beginnings as it started out with the share capital of just Rs. 17,38,825/-, Fixed Deposit of Rs. 12,58,140/- and as per RBI norms could only provide loans to females exclusively. This was a huge hurdle that the bank had to overcome during it's journey due to the lack of women driven businesses at the time. Over time due to the satisfaction of RBI regulations by the bank, it was allowed to give loans to people of all permitted categories without prejudice to their gender and the growth has been such that it has been graded in the A category by the Statutory Auditor from the more than last Ten years. Till date, Bank Maintaining Net NPA Less Than 1% I've always realized the challenges and problems facing me in my capacity as the President. As a result, my tenure saw the inauguration of 4 new branches in Mul, Nagbhid, Rajura and Korpana while the 5th is in the pipelines to come up in Pombhurna. Along with these the bank also witnessed the opening up of 3 ATMs in Chandrapur, Rajura and Nagbhid. We also started providing net banking services to better serve our customers and to adapt to the changing times that is continuously integrating technology into our daily lives.
I was frequently aided by the Vice-President, Advocate Vidya Tai Masade, Director Shobha Tai Fadnavis by her constant wisdom and guidance along with the rest of the directors whose cooperation and contribution has made the bank all that it is today. My list would remain incomplete if I failed to include the tireless support and effort of the bank managers and the rest of the workforce. I have complete confidence that Sanmitra Mahila Nagri Sahakari Bank will continue to serve the people of our community for years to come and meet their needs and aspirations with humanity and a sense of service.
